A blue and white ewer. Chongzhen period (1627–1644)

Of pear-shape, raised on a waisted pedestal foot, decorated in a strong cobalt blue with a scholar seated on the ground facing another scholar accompanied by a servant in a garden setting surrounded by a rocky landscape, with stylised tulips on either side of the neck. A few mushikui frittings and minor chip to base.
