A bronze figure of Tianguan, the Emperor-Official of Heaven. Ming dynasty, 16th century

Seated with legs wide apart on a bench and holding a hu sceptre in front of his chest, wearing an elaborate crown held in place by a pin and bearing the character "Tianguan", the garment with engraved border patterns. Long inscription to the backside with the date of Jiajing 16 (1537).
