A 14k gold enamel repoussé pendant with a Roman micromosaic depicting a mandolin player in Roman costume.

Rectangular black glass plaque (45 x 35 mm) with a coloured glass micromosaic depiction of a man playing a mandolin. In a Baroque style chased repoussé surround picked out in turquoise blue enamel. No hallmarks. The original brooch mountings removed and filed down. Total H 8 cm. Weight 34.60 g.
Ca. 1850/60.

The mosaic motif is based on the prints of Bartolomeo Pinelli (1781 - 1835).
