A German cabinet with unusual marquetry

Elm, maple, boxwood, green tinted ivory inlays on softwood, solid oak, ormolu mountings. A deux corps. Two-door base cabinet, sloping drop front writing surface concealing compartments and drawers. Two-door top beneath a trapezoid gable, fitted with 15 drawers surrounding a central compartment, the 16th drawer lost. All exterior faces and the cabinet door finely decorated with flower vases, flower baskets and parrots on branches in cartouche surrounds. Signs of wear, shrinkage cracks, older repairs, locks replaced, missing drawers. H 194, W 107, D 52 cm.
