A large parcel gilt Hamburg silver tankard

Thick base with auricular decor supporting a cylindrical vessel with hinged lid decorated with a finely chased repoussé frieze of amoretti at play. The decor of the lid reiterates that of the base, surmounted by a medallion depicting two further amoretti with a drapery. The solid silver handle with bifurcated thumb rest and fanciful auricular motifs. H 23.3 cm, weight 1,601 g.
Marks of Hanß Lambrecht III, 1642 -1658.
