Monogrammed and dated upper right: Aetatis. 25 / 1619 / TB f. (?) (overlapping).

An old handwritten inscription on the back of this copper panel attributes this work to Frans van Mieris. This attribution is not tenable, but testifies to the high quality of the painterly execution. This finely executed portrait of a 25-year-old nobleman is probably by the hand of an unknown German artist. The monogram has not yet been identified.
