A gilded and lacquered bronze figure of a bejewelled bodhisattva. Ming dynasty, probably early 15h century

Seated in meditation on a double lotus throne, both hands in mudra, the left hand holding a myrobalan fruit, the attributes supported by lotus flowers at the shoulders no longer identifiable, the openwork diadem decorated with garlands.
Height 26.1 cm

The casting is very thin.

Certificate

The expertise by Armand Neven, Brussels, of 30.5.1988, dates the figure to the late 14th/early 15th century (photocopy included)
