A bronze figure of Zhenwu, the God of the North. Late Ming dynasty, 17th century

Seated bare-footed and with legs wide apart on a bench, the left hand held in mudra, the right hand placed on the knee, the long hair falling down the back. In front of the pedestal a small tortoise and a snake. Remains of gold-lacquer and pigments. A bit damaged.
