An Indo-Portuguese ivory figure of a Corpus Christi. India, Goa. 17th/18th century

The arms with strong veins spread apart, the loin cloth tied to the waist with a cord, the seams decorated with a circle pattern, the eye-lids lowered, the mouth open, the hair and beard falling in undulating strands. Attached to a velvet-covered board with copper nails. Fingers and part of the loin cloth missing.
