A wood and kindei-nuri lacquered Kannon Bosatsu. 18th/19th century

In four parts. Standing slightly bent forward, both hands formerly held a lotus on which the soul of the deceased was taken to the Pure Land of the West, wearing a diadem and jewellery of copper and glass. The figure is inserted into a lotus flower above a cushion and a circle of petals, resting on a architectural pedestal with fittings of chiseled and gilt copper. The mandorla carved with clouds is not original.
