Solid walnut with transparent brown varnish. An older replaced area to the front of the seat, minor earlier insect damage to the underside. H 108.5, W 56, seat depth 39 cm.
Around 1902.

Bernhard Max Littmann (1862 - 1931) was born in Chemnitz and initially completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer before studying architecture in Dresden. In 1885 he moved to Munich, where he set up his own business shortly afterwards. His most famous building is the Royal Hofbräuhaus on Platzl in Munich.

Provenance

Formerly Villa Lindenhof, Munich-Bogenhaused, in the fireplace corner of the gentlemen's drawing room.
