A Portuguese 18k gold enamel and South Sea pearl ladybug brooch.

Designed as a ladybird with open wings picked out in pale blue transluscent enamel and eight black spots, the body formed from a baroque South Sea pearl (c. 12.1 x 7.5 mm) with fine bluish pink lustre; with two 8/8-cut diamonds for the eyes. Hallmarks: Fineness 800 for gold, Porto assay mark, unidentified maker's mark. One feeler bent, the pearl with minor traces of glue to the underside. L 3.5 cm. Weight 12.49 g.
