A 14k gold mounted carved agate snuff box with a later leather case.

Curved cartouche form tobacco box made from reddish brown agate mounted à cage. The hinged lid carved with a Baroque fountain with an eagle pouring water from its beak. Hallmarks: French import stamp for small gold items 1819 - 1838 (RIII, 6612), 1906 Dutch gold import stamp, two Prussian tax stamps. The upper corner of the front with a small repaired breakage and a hairline crack. 3.0 x 8.0 x 6.5 cm. Weight 139.84 g. In a modern gold embossed green leather presentation case.
Probably first half of 19th C., in the manner of 18th C. Dresden.
