A William II silver sconce

Oval blaker wall light with repoussé acanthus and bouquet motifs, engraved in the centre with the arms of alliance of the James and Wyndham families. The curved branch terminating in a vase-shaped candle nozzle with broad drip pan. H 19; W 11.7 cm, weight 181 g.
London, Britannia Standard, marks of Anthony Nelme, 1697.

This arms of alliance refer to the marriage of William James of Ightham Court in Kent (1667 - 1718) to Anne Wyndham of Trent, Somerset, in London on 21st June 1697.
