A Tibetan bone apron panel. 17th/18th century

Of elongated form, finely carved with Dakini Vajrayogini in dancing posture (ardhaparyanka) on a lifeless body (nairrti) over a lotus base, carrying her tantric staff and holding a kapala and kartika in her hands. Metal Stand.
Height 15.3 cm

Plaques like this depicting the "skywalking" Dakinis would be mounted at the upper girdle section of a bone apron, transmitting their secret knowledge down to earth through monks wearing those aprons during annual monastic cham festivals.
