A Tibetan bone apron panel. 17th/18th century

From the upper girdle section of an apron, of elongated form, finely carved with Dakini in dancing posture (ardhaparyanka) on a lotus base. Her main hands held in vajrahumkaramudra while holding a drum (damaru) and a tantric staff in her secondary hands. Metal Stand.
Height 15.5 cm

Plaques like this depicting the "skywalking" Dakinis would be mounted at the upper girdle section of a bone apron, transmitting their secret knowledge down to earth through monks wearing those aprons during annual monastic cham festivals.
