A brown-black glazed Cizhou bottle. Jin/Yuan dynasty, 13th century

Stoneware bottle of yuhuchun-type with a pear-shaped body, slender neck, and trumpet-shaped mouth. The brown-black glaze is carved down to the white slip underneath. In the centre a wide band with stylised leaf scrolls between two narrow bands, also with scrolls above and with lotus petals below. The area inside the footring is glazed.
