A round ivory shrine with Kannon Bosatsu inside. Meiji period

The shrine on a moulded base with curved feet and a stepped roof with a seated figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Behind the hinged doors decorated in openwork with a female deity on a dragon, a figure of Kannon Bosatsu seated on a double lotus holding a scepter in the shape of a lotus and two acolytes (dôji). Various small inlays of mother-of-pearl, coral, and silver. Signed Kôgyoku (Mitsutama) on the base.
