A black lacquer suzuribako. 19th century

With rounded corners, the lid displaying a tiger climbing a rock with sasa and a torrent rushing by, in gold takamakie with sabiji and lead coating and a little kirikane on a black lacquer ground. The reverse of the lid with bamboo on nashiji, some leaves inlaid with aogai, others with a thin lead coating. Nashiji to the inside with suzuri, inkstone and water dropper of modern pottery. Tiny traces of use.
