A round gold lacquer incense box (kôgô). 18th century

The flat lid displaying a vase with peony and a willow branch on a table in sabiji, hiramakie and with kirikane on a black lacquer ground with nashiji, hirame and tiny aogai specks. The sides with stylised kiri flowers, leaves, and tendrils. Very fine nashiji to the inside. Rims lined with lead. Small chip.
Height 2.3 cm; diameter 8.4 cm
