A Ratanakosin lacquered bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Thailand. Early 19th century

Seated in meditation on a double lotus on a base with an empty cartouche for an inscription at the front, the right hand held in bhumisparshamudra, the left hand resting in dhyanamudra above the foot, small curls covering the head and ushnisha, the ketumala missing, wearing a richly patterned robe with stylised flowers and ornamental borders, the black lacquer with traces of gilding.
