A parcel gilt silver box for the king and queen of the Two Sicilies

Rectangular fluted box on four shell supports. The smooth slip lid richly decorated with Rococo ornament and with a central applique bearing the arms of alliance of the houses of Bourbon-Sicily and Habsburg-Lotharingia. H 7; L 27; W 15.5 cm, weight 1,220 g.

This box was apparently made as a present for Ferdinand II of Bourbon, King of the Two Sicilies and his second wife Archduchess Maria Theresa of Austria, the eldest daughter of Archduke Charles of Austria-Teschen, who married in Naples in January 1837.
