A Lübeck silver jug and cover

Cylindrical vessel with thick, curved handle and hinged domed lid engraved with the arms of alliance of the von Negendank and von Reventlow families with the monograms "P.N" and "E.R.". This engraving was in turn concealed by a later screw-mounted plaque bearing the arms of the von Flotow family. With a full dedication to August Adam von Flotow auf Woldzegarten and Jürgenthal, dated 1838, on the inside of the lid. With gilt interior. H 20.5 cm, weight 871 / 902 g.
Marks of Markus Jeger, around 1644 - 1647.

The various armorial engravings indicate the changing provenance of the jug. The original arms of alliance refer to the marriage of Paschen von Negendank (1585 - 1656) to Elisabeth von Reventlow in 1611. Following her husband's death, Elisabeth married Hartwig von Flotow. The jug thence remained in the von Flotow family by descent for many generations until its sale in 2016.
