Celje, 18th C.

Cilli, today's Celje, is located about 70 km north of Ljubljana. The town can trace its history back to a Celtic settlement and became the Roman town of Celeia under Emperor Claudius. In the Middle Ages under changing noble ownership, the town, which belonged to Styria, eventually fell to the Habsburgs in 1456.
