A pair of Empire ormolu centrepieces

Cast in several parts and screw-mounted. Each with three glass dishes entwined with ivy tendrils on a central spindle. The plinths with three figures of dancing maenads making music. One attribute lost. H 64 cm.
Paris, early 19th C.

Centrepieces with similar figural designs are recorded from the workshop of Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751 - 1843).
