An Italian silver pax, 15th/16th century

Silver niello; cast, chased and gilded bronze. Finely wrought pax panel in a richly ornamented architectural surround depicting the Virgin Mary as "Maria lactans" surrounded by angels making music and adored by four kneeling saints.
With minor wear. 15.3 x 9.3 x 5 cm (with handle).
