A large carved lacquer lidded box. 19th century

Of squat globular form with a flat-topped lid, carved with numerous buildings and pavilions, waterways, ponds and bridges with bearded scholars, boys and several dogs, pines, deciduous trees, bamboo and lotus plants. The sides of the lid and the lower part of the box carved with dragons amidst waves. Black lacquer to the inside. Slight damage to the inside rim and restorations.
