A figure of a Bactrian camel. Tang dynasty (618-907)

The naturalistically modeled camel on a geometric pedestal is kneeling on its left front leg, the right front hoof is staying on the ground. It is saddled between its humps, and loaded with water flasks. Remnants of a white engobe on the grayish-brown earthenware paste as well as red and dark gray pigment.
