A rare Buddhist votive plaque. Tang dynasty, 7th century

Of almost square shape made of blackish terracotta. On the front in relief a pagoda with three floors on a three-tiered base, in the niches seated Buddha figures, the roof crowned with Amithaba. The pagoda is surrounded by ten seated Buddhas and four standing Bodhisattvas. On the back in a frame a grid with 36 unread characters, in the corner inscribed with a Chinese number five in black ink. Plexiglass stand.
