Little is known about the Seiya workshop, which was active during the Meiji period. It produced primarily animals (tigers, elephants, lions, camels and animals fighting with each other), as well as figures of farmers and young women from the countryside. The workshop used at least five different seal marks: the most elaborate seal is the six-character seal: Dai Nihon Genryūsai Seiya sei/zō 源龍齋誠谷製/造.
