A large Burmese silver bowl. Early 20th century

In the shape of an alms bowl, chased, engraved and punched with a wide band of acanthus leaves above the base and patterned bands below the rim, six more or less continuous scenes from a jakata (tales from the previous life of the Buddha). On the base four hallmarks: crown, fleur de lys, emperor and animal; Dutch import mark "V" (1906-1953). Weight 1768 g.
