A Tibetan Thangka of Guru Milarepa. 18th century

Seated in ardhaparyanka, holding his right hand to his ear. His ascetic body is loosely wrapped in a wide cotton robe, a red yogapatta hanging down over his right shoulder. In the upper left corner he is shown in a cave, another depiction at the lower edge of the picture shows him standing with a bag of barley flour attached to his staff. Brocade mounting. Traces of age.
