Glass panel decorated on reverse in etched gold leaf against black ground. Etched signature "Huffmann Fecit" lower right. Retouches to the black frame. Ebonised softwood frame with chased silver appliques (with later mis-struck Austrian hallmarks), H 25.5, W 33.5 cm.

The legendary encounter between the Prussian king and the Austrian emperor was depicted several times throughout the 19th century, presumably inspired by Adolph Menzel's monumental painting, which is now on display in the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin.
