A possibly French gold and enamel breloque with an ancient Roman carnelian intaglio. Within it's original case.

Pierced and moulded design picked out in polychrome enamels, with heart shaped bail. Set with a carnelian intaglio (10.8 x 9.7 mm) depicting a faun wearing a wreath at a sacrificial altar. Not hallmarked. Several chips to the enamel. H. 2.0 cm. Weight 2.46 g. Original case with gold tooled leather cover.
Attributed to France, around 1760.
