A silver perpetual calendar with writing tablet

Smooth rectangular silver case with finely engraved acanthus and flowerhead motifs inset with four ivory writing tablets. The cover, engraved "Calendarium Perpetuum", shows the seven days of the week with a mobile date aperture. The base shows the changing lengths of night and day, the time of sunrise and the most important name days. H 7.6; W 4.3 cm.
Unmarked, attributed to Johann Georg Mettel, early 18th C.
