Nine Dutch faience tiles

Six with grape motifs, six with pomegranates. With lilies in the corners and repeating rosettes. Some chips to the rims, one restored broken tile and one probably later crazed tile. Slightly differing sizes, c. 13 x 13 cm.
Early 17th C.

De Jonge, Delft Keramik, Tübingen 1969, p. 21f., with fig. 11, refers to the contemporary designation of the pomegranate motif as 'Oranienäpfel', alluding to the armistice between the Netherlands and Spain.
