Cami Stone

Eingang zur Ausstellungskoje, Dessau
1929

Vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver print. 17 x 23.1 cm (17.9 x 24.1 cm). Photographer's stamp, inscribed by Xanti Schawinsky in ink as well as numbered in an unknown hand in pencil on verso. - Matted and framed.

With his design of the Junkers & Co. booth at the 'Gas und Wasser [Gas and Water]' exhibition in Berlin, for which Xanti Schawinsky was solely responsible, the young Bauhaus student achieved his professional breakthrough as a progressive typographer and advertising artist. The booth was honored at the advertising congress on the occasion of the 'Internationalen Reklameschau [International Advertising Show]' in Berlin in 1929 as a prime example of a new advertising design. (cf. Blume, op. cit., p. 55)
