The composer Julius Weismann (1879-1950) was a friend of Julius Bissier. Bissier made two portraits of the composer - described by the artist as a "tone poet" - and was closely involved with Weismann's musical work. For example, there is a design for a stage set for Weismann's opera "Schwanenweiß". Julius Weismann's estate contained around 15 paintings by Bissier.
