A small blue and white ko-sometsuke ladle rest. Ming dynasty, 17th century

Spoon or lid rest for the Japanese market. Square-shaped with a circular depression on the top and a flat unglazed base, decorated on the sides with a cottage in a mountain landscape.
Height 4.4 cm; base 2.6 x 2.6 cm

A comparable object from the Hirota Matsushige collection is housed in the Tokyo National Museum, inventory number TG-2621.
