A gilt and lacquered wood figure of Seishi Bosatsu. Edo period, 17th century

Standing and inserted into a double lotus base on a high hexagonal and richly carved pedestal, both hands held in gassho-in in front of the chest, the garment falling in numerous folds and the long shawl draped across the chest, one of its ends missing, on the head a highly ornate diadem of gilt copper with glass beads, eyes and urna of glass, a simple halo inserted at the back.
