A small and slender Satsuma vase by Shizan. Late 19th century

Of elongated ovoid shape, painted in enamels and gold with various cartouches filled with a samurai and his son, birds and flowers, a group of celebrating people including a man blowing soap bubbles and butterflies on a patterned ground. Signed Shizan to the base and the same characters on a fan held by one of the celebrators.
