A lacquer table cabinet. Late 17th century

With hinged lid and fall-front, the interiors consisting of a bottom drawer subdivided into five compartments, two of them with a lid, and a top compartment accessed by raising the lid. Decorated on all external faces in gold lacquer on a black ground with floral sprays and a bird on the front, and thatched huts underneath floral sprays on the sides and the top. Inside small flower sprays. Gilt-copper punch-chased fittings screwed to the edges and corners, the lock plates decorated in the same technique. Handles of gilt-metal to the sides.
