An ivory okimono of a skull with snake and frogs. Late 19th century

The skull is supported by two monkeys, a toad and a frog, while a large snake winds around the skull and catches a fleeing toad by its hind leg. The animals represent the sansukumi theme in which snake, frog and snail cause each others death. Eye pupils of black horn. Restored.
