A Sino-Tibetan fire-gilt and partially painted bronze figure of Mahakala. 19/20th century

On a lotus base with a flaming mandorla, standing in a lunge on two naked human figures. In his left hand kapala, his right hand is raised, originally with an attribute. He wears a long apron with an arrow held by a snake at his belt, a long open robe, earrings and a skull crown, his hair with vajra wrapped by a snake. Baseplate with an engraved depiction.
Height with mandorla 18.6 cm

This unusual depiction of Mahakala is probably modelled on the iconography of the Legden (Bhagavat) Mahakala.
