Reverse painting on glass in painted wood frame 32.6 x 32.7 x 3 cm. Signed and dated KESTING 27 on frame lower right as well as additionally signed Edm. Kesting in black ink on frame backing cardboard and with address stamp "Edmund Kesting/Münchner Strasse 5/Dresden-A. 24". - With a few minor losses of color at upper left; the frame edges with small losses of color.

The composition is related to Kesting's oil painting „Rote Sichel", dated 1927. Purchased by the Nationalgalerie (Ost) in 1972, according to kind information by Dr. Dieter Scholz, curator at the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin. Also see: Exhib. cat.
