A Louis XV pendulum clock

Ebony and ebonised wood veneer on softwood and oak corpus, ormolu mountings, glazing, brass, 21 white enamel cartouches, blued iron hands. Three-part clock case comprising head with a small enamel cartouche inscribed "SOLIS INTERPRES FIDUS" (the just person interprets the sun), pendulum case with two weights and an applique with Cupid and a globe, the pendulum aperture framed by acanthus scrolls. Signed to the dial "BVRGEAT A VERSAILLES". some bronzes stamped with crowned c. Vertical crack to the centre of the case, minor horizontal cracks. H 222, W 54.5, D 28 cm.
Versailles, Burgeat, master since 1777, the case attrubited to Adrien Dubois, 1745 - 49.
