A large bronze military drum/bell. South-central/South-west China. Late Eastern Zhou/early Western Han dynasty, 4th/3rd century BC

Of elliptical cross section, the body swells gradually toward the top and ends in a flaring everted lip, on top of the drum a figure of a tiger, each leg standing on a low plinth. Thick blackish patina with some green areas. Carved wooden stand.
