A large mortar made for Johann Christoph and Catharina Franckh

Thick cast bronze with slightly dull golden brown patina. Of cylindrical form with thick moulded base and broadly flaring stepped rim. With two raised banderoles and the family coat of arms with stags rampant surrounded by foliate scrolls. The banderoles inscribed in capital letters: "IOH CHRISTOPH FRANCKH", verso "CATHARINA GEBOR HALDERIN". The handles formed as dolphins. H 27, D 27.6 cm. Weight c. 23 kg.
