A Renaissance mortar with cherub's heads

Cast bronze with golden brown patina. Bell-shaped form with moulded base. All four sides decorated with putto heads alternating with hexagonal plaques depicting saints Philipp and Matthew. A breakage to the rim measuring 3.5 cm in length and several smaller dents. H 14.9, D 15.8 cm. Weight c. 3.5 kg.
