A pair of Braunschweig silver spice boxes made for Duke Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand zu Braunschweig-Lüneburg

Silver; gold-plated. Silver-gilt spice boxes, the interiors fitted with two separate compartments. With laurel sprig décor to the body and corresponding décor to the hinged lids surrounding conjoined crowned “CWF” monograms. Brands: MZ Johan Carl Hoffmann (1781 - 1830, Spies No. 626b), supplemented Augsburg BZ. H 3.4; W 9.2; D 7 cm, weight of each 169 g.
Maker's Mark of Johan Carl Hoffmann, around 1790, an added Augsburg hallmark.
